Des Plaines Journal
Musician has strong connection to Des Plaines and Northwest Suburbs

   Cy Taggart grew up in the Des Plaines, a 1975 graduate of Forest View Hs, and counts the Des Plaines Theater as one of his happiest childhood memories. He is “really" looking forward to being back in town for this concert. It’s going to be fun. Everyone should come out and support that beautiful old theater.”  With a degree from Southern Illinois University (BA) and Vandercook College (MA), Taggart taught music and conducted the choirs at Lake Bluff Middle School from 1984-1991 and at Waukegan H.S. from 1992-1995 while living in Des Plaines before relocating to Richmond.

   He is also the founding conductor of the Mt. Prospect Community Choir, a former conductor of the Old Town School of Folk Music Choir and also Started and conducted the yearly "Do It Yourself"  Handel’s Messiah at the Des Plaines’ Masonic Temple Theater.

   He has a vast range of musical interests and features in his high-energy sets everything from Ellington to Elvis, Basie to the Beatles, and Sinatra to Santana.  His song list features jazz standards, traditional blues, early rock 'n' roll and original material.  The Richmond Music Journal said of Cy, “His enthusiasm and hard working ethic create a bluesman the caliper of blues legends of the past.”

Chicago Cy, best known for his blues , unplugs for an acoustic show on Sunday morning at the Positive Vibe Café. This human jukebox plays just about everything under the sun, from The Beatles to Count Basie, so don't be shy about making requests.

"Rolling on the River" review;
Richmond Music Journal

The Chicago Cy Trio was the first to get their "Mojo Working" across from the Omni Hotel, followed by some "Keb Moe" featuring Cy's finger action on the six string. There were lots of toe tapping to his scating, and the bass and drums had people Dancing down Cary St to "It Aint The Meat" (It's The Motion)

Review Ernie Hawkins show
"Chicago" Cy aptly opened the show with his warmth and playing of tunes from his live CD, recorded at Poes Pub. His enthusiasm and hard working ethic create a bluesman the caliper of blues legends of the past".
