The Stompbox

The Stompbox is an electric percussion instrument that is played with the foot.
It was designed to add an "unautomated" rhythmic beat for the musical soloist.

The sound created is dependent on how the performer taps their foot, and the settings on the amplifier or p.a. system . The type of shoe used will also impact the sound produced.  Effects such as a pedal EQ  give a variety of different tones. A Direct box will also  improve the signal to a pa system.  I personally use a small amp.   The Stomp box can also be used as a trigger for a synth or drum module. For recording it makes a great click track if tempo changes occur in the music.  I also use it as a teaching tool to help develop rhythmic awareness in my students.

Got it, used it, like it.  I plug it directly into a Crate Acoustic Electric amp, so I have XLR mic input, an input for the guitar, and now I have percussion.  I can set up everything in advance, so all I have to do is plug in and I'm my own band.  A real bargain.
